Coffee with God: Choosing #peace

peace i leave with you

Earlier this year, I shared my one word with you: peace. I believe God made the right choice in laying peace on my heart, that it is what I most need to embrace. But I have struggled to do that which is absolutely necessary in order to achieve it: trust Him.

We are moving later this month – our family’s seventh move in six years. And though we have packed and moved many times, I still find myself feeling nervous, worrying. Our new home will bring us financial peace, but the next two months are going to be very difficult. As I look at our dwindling bank account, I wonder How will we afford to move? How will we pay our bills? How will we afford to buy groceries? How will we pay for Jack’s therapies? The list of worries goes on and on.

With these worries flooding my brain I say to my husband, “I want to wake up and have it be May. Can’t we just skip March and April?”

He chuckles.

“I’m just so worried. I don’t know how we’re going to do this,” I tell him.

“I know,” he responded, “but it will all work out.”

As I struggle to find peace in this stage of our lives, to let go of my fears and worries, I read these words in Jesus Calling:

When something in your life or thoughts makes you anxious, come to Me and talk about it. Bring Me your prayer and petition with thanksgiving, saying: “Thank You, Jesus, for this opportunity to trust You more.” Though the lessons of trust that I send to you come wrapped in difficulties, the benefits far outweigh the cost. Well-developed trust will bring you many blessings, not the least of which is My Peace. I have promised to keep you in perfect Peace to the extent that you trust in Me. The worlds has it backwards, teaching that peace is the result of having enough money, possessions, insurance, and security systems. My Peace, however, is such an all-encompassing gift that it is independent of all circumstances. Though you lose everything else, if you gain My Peace you are rich indeed.

Words I needed to read this very day.

So, friends, today I am choosing to trust. Today, I am choosing #peace. Today, I am choosing to release the fear that binds me from letting go and letting God.
